Traditional Sámi Tent - Lávvu

Go back to the basics and spend the night in a Lávvu

Lávvu is an adventure for the tough and experienced! You’ll sleep directly on birch branches and reindeer skins, bundled up in a soft sleeping bag on the tent floor.

A fire-heated stove provides warmth, but keeping it burning requires teamwork, as you’ll need to take turns tending the fire throughout the night. The sounds of nature filtering through the canvas create an unforgettable atmosphere, making this an authentic and immersive Sámi experience.

Come and experience a peaceful stay in the heart of Swedish Lapland

The lávvu is a portable 20 m² canvas tent supported by wooden poles. It accommodates two people, with beds made from birch branches, reindeer skins, and warm sleeping bags for an authentic experience.
The inner tent, rákkas, reduces condensation, while the stove provides warmth throughout the night. There is no electricity, but a heated hut is available for emergencies and charging devices.
Shared WC and shower facilities are nearby, and lockable storage is available. We recommend a one-night stay in the lávvu and suggest combining it with a night in one of our forest cabins for added comfort.

Facilities & Comfort

The WC, showers, sauna, and dining/lounge tent are located in shared facilities just a few meters from the accommodations. Bathrooms include WCs, single-sex showers with changing rooms, and a wood-fired mixed sauna.
Breakfast is served in the lounge tent, where you can relax in cozy sofas and armchairs throughout the afternoon and evening—whether to socialize, read a book, or simply unwind. A selection of light meals, hot drinks, beer, and wine is available at the evening bar.

How cold is it in a Lávvu?

The lávvu got walls made of canvas and it get as cold inside as it is outside if you do not keep a fire going. You are responsible to make sure the fire is burning all night and that you dress well during the night. You will get warm sleeping bags, lots of wood and an outer layer of winter clothes (ski overall) from us. If you get too cold during the night we got an emergency hut where you can go in to, but we only reccomend this stay for people who are looking for an adventurous stay and want to feel how it was to live in the olden days.

Bathroom Facilities

The lávvu tents do not have private bathrooms. Instead, shared facilities with WCs, dry toilets, showers, and saunas are available nearby.
