Márkanbáiki is an open-air museum dedicated to Sámi culture. Here, you can explore the rich history of Sápmi and learn how the Sámi people once lived in harmony with nature, following the rhythm of eight seasons and thriving in a nomadic life in the Arctic.
Within the area, you’ll also find our handicraft shop, where you can support local artisans by purchasing handmade souvenirs unique to the region. The shop is conveniently located next to our restaurant, Ovttas, where we serve delicious lunches and traditional fika by the warmth of a crackling fire.
Discover the heart of Sámi craftsmanship in our shop at Márkanbáiki. Here, you’ll find a curated selection of authentic local handicrafts, including intricately designed horn pieces, Sámi silver jewelry, and reindeer hides. We also offer a handpicked assortment of delicacies from Swedish Lapland, perfect as gifts or personal treats.
All our duodji (traditional Sámi handicrafts) are sourced directly from Sámi artisans, ensuring fair trade and genuine quality. By shopping with us, you’re not only bringing home unique pieces of Sámi culture but also supporting local communities and traditions.
Explore, shop, and bring a piece of Sápmi with you!
We recommend our guests to wear their warmest clothes to enjoy the visit, regardless of temperature.
