SPRING package tour
Miesse – 3 day spring package
Spring is coming with light and new life. The bright hours of the midnight sun are approaching and will provide a wonderful setting for your visit, and the calving season is one highlight within reindeer husbandry. So if you are visiting Kiruna to meet reindeer you are at the right place! With our package Miesse you have the unique opportunity to see the reindeer herd and newborn calves. You stay with us in our cosy accommodation outside Jukkasjärvi village and get really close to nature and world famous Icehotel.
Day 1 - Arrival
You check in to the Stophu forestcabin and get familiar with the surroundings. Maybe visit Jukkasjärvi village where ICEHOTEL is located and our beautiful Jukkasjärvi Church, or just have a nice afternoon at the lodge. We also, of course, recommend a first visit to the sauna this evening! During check in you will also get a ticket to our outdoor museum Márkanbáiki where you can learn more about the Sámi culture. This you are free to do any time during your visit.
Day 2 – Miessemánnu tour
Breakfast is served in the morning for a good start of the day. At 16.00 you will picked up from Reindeer lodge for transfer by minibus, approx. 1.5 hour one way, towards Geasasjohka reindeer corrals. Here you will meet the big heard of reindeer, and hopefully the proud reindeer mothers will let you see the newborn reindeer calfs. Together with your guide you will be strolling around in the taiga forest, talking about Sámi culture and reindeer herding.
When you get hungry you will be invited into a lávvu, a traditional Sámi tent, where you take a seat on reindeer skins around a sparkling and warming fire. You will be served the Sámi signature dish suovas, which is smoked reindeer
meat, fried over the open fire and served on gáhkku bread with a dash of lingonberry jam. After transfer back you will be left at the lodge aproximately at 22.00.
Day 3 – Departure
After breakfast, it’s time to pack up, say goodbye and travel on. Our transfer service takes you to Jukkasjärvi or into Kiruna. Don’t forget to say goodbye to the reindeer!
