No, we recruit people with all kinds of backgrounds. This is to get a happy and dynamic workplace with people who got service in focus. However, everyone who works has good insight into the Sámi culture and is included in our reindeer work.
All our reindeer are born in the wild and have never been bred by us. While they are tamed and interact with guests daily, they remain wild animals with unique personalities. Despite their tameness, there is always a small risk. Some reindeer may react by running, jumping, striking with their antlers, or kicking if they feel trapped or uncomfortable. Guests must follow staff safety instructions at all times.
Winter
Yes, if you come in the winter we got reindeer both at the museum, lodge and activities. Reindeer is what our entire business revolves around. We love our animals, both those we tame and compete with and those who run free on the mountain. It is our great pleasure to let you meet these charming animals. This regardless of whether you stay at our lodge or pay a visit to the museum. So if you want to pet, feed and get close to the animals that are the most central figure in Sámi culture, we are the right place to visit!
Spring
During the springtime we want our reindeer to relax and breath some mountain air. Thus, we have moved our entire heard away from Jukkasjärvi. Though if you still want to meet our reindeer we got an option for you. You can join us for our tour miessemannu, where we drive you to our heard and let you meet the newborn reindeer calvs.
Summer and fall
Since most of the herd is up in the mountains during summer we got less reindeer in Jukkasjärvi. For example we have no reindeer at the lodge, but there is always some at the museum.
Perhaps, the Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon that we can not control. In order for you to see it, it is required both that the solar activity is high and that it is cloudless. Therefore, we can never guarantee anything, but our lodge is located far from the city lights, which means that the chance is good. However, we recommend that you plan many other fun activities and see the Northern Lights as an extra bonus if it comes, to make the trip memorable regardless of the weather!
(Please note that you cannot see the aurora during the summer/when it is daylight outside)
The temperature and amount of snow vary throughout the year, ranging from -30°C in winter to +30°C in summer. Due to the impacts of climate change, the weather has become increasingly unpredictable. We strongly recommend checking the weather forecast before your visit and ensuring you bring appropriate clothing for all conditions.
We think it's great fun that so many are interested in coming here and working with us. We are happy to recive you but unfortunately we do not have the opportunity to arrange accommodation. But if you have found somewhere to sleep, you can write to connect@nutti.se and introduce yourself, and maybe we'll see you in the future!
