Stohpu - Sámi forest cabin

Come to Jukkasjärvi and make a cosy cabin your resting place during the holidays. The cabins at Reindeer Lodge are built with inspiration from the mountain cabins that we use within reindeer husbandry. Hence they are simple, but cute and snug. You sleep in comfortable double beds while both an electrical heater as well a fire place keep you warm. The five small cabins are nestled in the forest and you get both reindeer and traditional Sámi tents as your closest neighbour. Following are included in your stay:

  • Breakfast - breakfastbuffé served in our lounge
  • Sheets - sheets, towels and extra blankets free of use
  • Wood for the stove

Dinner is included during the winter season. In summer you can choose between cooking yourself in the joint kitchen or to visit a restaurant in Jukkasjärvi.

Each cabin is a large room of 20 m² equipped with a double bed (1.60 x 2.00 m), wood-burning stove, electrical heaters, refrigerator, chairs and table. Four out of five cabins are also furnished with a sofa bed (1.60 x 1.80 m) that can accommodate another adult and a child, or two children. The cabin is decorated with elements and designs from nature and the Sámi culture.

WC, shower/sauna, dining room/lounge tent are in separate common facilities located a few meters from the accommodations. The sanitary spaces include bathrooms with WC, single-sex shower and changing rooms and a wood-fired, mixed sauna. Breakfast is served in the lounge tent where you can sit down in comfortable sofas and armchairs from afternoon until late to socialise, read a book or just to be. Light meals, hot drinks, beer and wine can be ordered in the lounge's evening bar.

How cold is it in a cabin?

The cabin is small and got both electric heaters and fire stove. This makes it as warm as a normal house, but exactly how warm it gets depends on the temperature outisde and how big fire you make in the stove. You will get warm blankets and lots of wood to keep the fire going. Though we never have any complaints on the cabins beeing too cold the fire heated sauna is a nice place to warm up in after a long day in the snow!

How does the bathroom look like?

The cabins does not have a bathroom connected. Instead there are WC, dry toilets, shower and saunas in separate, shared buildings.
